Hull Kingston Archers does not offer a year-round programme of archery instruction. Instead, the Club usually offers a Beginners’ Course in Recurve Archery starting in late April. In addition, during the period late May to early August, the Club endeavours to offer tuition as and when approached by interested parties, subject to there being sufficient numbers. Tuition is provided at the Cottingham Parks site, close to Hull.

The Course comprises six 1 - 1½ hour sessions, each usually including some initial instruction followed by practice shooting. The cost (£30 per person) includes the use of Club equipment (bow, arrows, tab, bracer) and insurance. Participants must be at least 12 years of age. Juniors (12 up to 18) must be accompanied at all times by a parent (or legal guardian). The sessions take place (weather permitting) at Cottingham Parks on Sunday mornings and on one or more evenings (Wednesday and/or Friday). Therefore, the Course is completed usually over a 2 – 3 week period. Satisfactory completion of the Courseand the award of the Certificate, requires attendance at a minimum of four sessions.

Participants who successfully complete the Course are eligible to apply for Club Membership. Note that Club Members must possess their own archery equipment.
